About
Hello! I am Fran Bundey and I'm a Leeds based sound artist and performer.

I create sound pieces and performances made using a mix of field recordings and archive footage. I use my editing software and performing to explore how I can re-frame landscapes and delve into a place's history to enhance an audiences engagement with their surroundings and their past.
In 2025, I won one of the Four Nations Outdoor Arts commissions. During this project, I created a new piece of walkabout outdoor performance designed for cities and green spaces called 'Charlotte Brontë: Senseless Trash'. This piece was a physical and audio journey accross the Yorkshire moors with Charlotte Brontë herself. Through silent disco headphones, audiences are led through the literary landscapes of Jane Eyre and Wuthering heights, clambering over imaginary stiles and leaping over streams, journeying with Charlotte through her struggles, ambitions and desires to become a writer in Victorian England. Take a look at Charlotte Bronte: Senseless Trash here.

I received the Developing Your Creative Practice grant from the Arts Council in 2023 which enabled me to further develop my recording and editing skills, this has led me to several commissioned sound pieces that explore and celebrate the history and heritage of Leeds. I'm very interested in heritage and I love to delve deep into research to create authentic and meaningful soundscapes. If you have a heritage project and would like to discuss how to use sound to create a unique offering or take on something, I'd love to chat! Take a look at my sound art portfolio here.
